Our Story

Background — Our Dad: Ernesto

Ernesto came from a business family! Back home in Mexico, his parents, siblings, and him ran different businesses including a grocery store, bakery, butcher shop, and a tortilleria. Safe to say that business is in his blood!

At the age of 27, now a husband and father, our dad needed a fresh start and decided to move to the USA. Once here and needing to provide for his family, he started working and stumbled upon the amazing industry of countertop fabrication and installation. He began learning everything he could about the ins and outs of the trade that he grew to love.

2005 — Inception

Our Dad registered Olivas Granite and Marble LLC and with limited budget and English speaking skills, he worked day and night to make his new company a success.

He started in a small shop near Franklin Park, IL with a small pickup truck and a very determined attitude to excel. He was able to gain more and more customers due to his excellent work ethic and his very friendly personality that his customers came to love.

Growth — The Kids Join the Team

In the next couple of years as Olivas Granite and Marble continued to grow, our dad decided to move his shop closer to his family in Romeoville, IL to cut down his commute and get more warehouse space for new machinery.

This was a smart choice that allowed us (his kids) to get more involved in the company.

Today — Family Strong

Overall with the whole family involved, the company has continued to grow year after year. We all love our work and making our clients happy.

Meet the Team: La Familia

Ernesto Olivas

Founder

Ernesto came from a business family in Mexico, running grocery stores, bakeries, butcher shops, and a tortilleria. At 27, he moved to the USA seeking a fresh start for his family. He discovered countertop fabrication and installation, learning everything about the trade he grew to love.

Helen Aviles

Vice President

Helen studied business administration in college and soon after graduation began working full time to help run the company. She works directly with clients helping with sales and daily business operations. She loves the design aspect of the work.

Carlos Olivas

Operations & Installation

Carlos, following in Helen's footsteps, also studied business administration in college. He does a lot in the business including measuring, installing, and helping in the office when needed.

Nestor Olivas

Technology Lead

Unlike Carlos and Helen, Nestor chose to study applied science with a focus on computer technology. He leads all technology aspects of the company, keeping us up to date with the best software and hardware.

Aime Hernandez

Lead Sales Associate

Aime joined our team in 2021 and she has been a great addition. She is a very friendly and knowledgeable sales lead who can help any customer choose the perfect material for their project.
